Dr. N. K. Aggarwal elected President of National Association
In the recent past orthopaedic surgery has seen great advancements. These advances have revolutionized the treatment of orthopaedic patients needing repair of the fracture or treatment by artificial joints. Intramedullary Interlocking nail has become the most popular method for the treatment of long bone fractures. It allows the patients to get back to work in a matter to few days. Dr. N. K. Aggarwal, Director Institute of Orthopaedics & Superspeciality Trauma Centre at Gurdev Hospital has been elected President of National Association of Interlocking Surgeons (NAILS) for the years 2003 & 2004. Dr. N. K. Aggarwal has had his initial training in India and then in the UK where he did the prestigious M.Ch. in Orthopaedics from University of Liverpool. He also had training in USA and Switzerland. Thereafter he started working in the UK and returned to India in 1993. He has been Head of Dept. of Orthopaedics at CMC, Ludhiana, and Professor & chief of Traumatology & Arthroplasty at DMC, Ludhiana. He is a pioneer in the technique of Interlocking nailing and has contributed significantly in upgrading Orthopaedic services in this region. He has also designed and developed a new external fixation system by the name of Ludhiana Liverpool External Fixation System.
