Several factors are responsible for arm pain such as injury to skin, nerves, bones, joints and soft tissues of arm and overuse. It depends on area and cause and can be combined with numbness, redness and swelling of joints. On the basis of cause, the pain may occur immediately and spread gradually.

Diagnosis and Treatment of arm pain
Diagnosis of arm pain is the first step of treatment to find the underlying cause of it. Patient’s medical history and physical activities, injuries and symptoms are evaluated. Depending on the symptoms, various types of tests are performed such as blood test, X-ray, Ultrasounds, MRI and CT scans.
Usually arm pain doesn’t need immediate medical help. However, it may become necessary in case of broken bone, heart attack and other heart problems that cause arm pain. In case of broken arm, patient experiences severe pain, visible and physical problems in arm, difficulty to move arms and hands.
In few cases of arm pain, doctors will suggest painkillers, anti-inflammatory medicines, injections and intravenous medications. You may also receive physical therapy or surgery if needed.
